The cone-shaped paper filter papers are the most common and produce a very clean cup of coffee. The filter papers strain all of the oils, bitter elements and grounds out of the Chemex (and then cup) for a uniform extraction for a pure coffee flavour.
Before you add the coffee to the cone, it is always recommended you blanch (pour a little water over) the paper first to get rid of any woody/paper taste.
